About the Program

The Power Plant Technology program is offered through Flint Hills Technical College (FHTC). The school's website is here. Classes are on site at Peaslee Tech but you must enroll through FHTC. The program is open to juniors and seniors in high school, as well as those who have graduated high school or received a GED. After applying for admission, students should complete scholarship applications (if applicable) and apply for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. 1-year program (Approximately $5,140 / non-high school students)

ENTRY LEVEL SALARY:  Salaries typically start from $32,570 in Kansas (www.sokanu.com)

Understand the generation process of power plants to fill positions in coal, nuclear, gas, hydroelectric, and solar power generating facilities that are both technically challenging and rewarding. Energy companies across Kansas have partnered with Power Plant Technology to offer advanced industry-sponsored training for the operation, installation, servicing and repairing of power plant equipment. FHTC offers toe only power plant training program in the state of Kansas.

Admissions Criteria

To be admitted, students must submit an application for admission through Flint Hills Technical College. Contact the recruiter for more information. Official high school transcript or GED certificate/transcript will be required. Official college transcript required if applicable.  A tuberculosis screening questionaire is required. See enrollment procedures if student is a non-U.S. citizen or a citizen not born in the U.S. Prospective students must pass testing requirements.
